Final Designs

Kim MacConnel

This work has been very inspiring to me, though it is extremely different to my own patterns that i hav created, it is still inspiring due to the mass of decoration which is use and the abstract patterns which i love. Some of her work has been hand designed then computerized, though some is still in its original form. I am really inspired by this work and her imagination.
Kim MacConnel born in 1946 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma is an American artist who works with painting, sculpture, and mixed media-collage/fabric. MacConnel is a seminal figure in the Pattern and Decoration movement of the seventies, but overall MacConnel’s oeuvre has surpassed being categorized MacConnel received his BA, with honors, from the University of California, San Diego in 1969 and his MFA, also with honors, in 1972.

Martin Sati

This work has been very inspiring to me, due to the complex patterns which have been generated on the computer, the images are extremely detailed and intricate, though use colour something which i have decide not to use in my patterns.
The patterns have quite a retro feel to them, though still maintain a modern computerized characteristic, which i love. The images would work very well as small or large patterns and would be very appealing to use as a feature wall as a repeated pattern. These designs are unique and all his work is extremely easy to identify as his, due to the vast amount of detail.

Final Idea - Pattern trails

I have created this trial by drawing out a section of the pattern on to paper, scanning in the image, to edit. The first image is the original image which I created, I then inverted the image just to see whether the image would be more affective with a black background.  I then repeated the process four times to create a pattern, using a pop art effect. I used all of these methods just to trial which i preferred.

Final Idea - Pattern trails

I have created this trial by drawing out a section of the pattern on to paper, scanning in the image, to edit, simply by cutting and repeating the pattern from different angles and changing the transparency of the image. I then repeated the process four times to create a pattern, which would sit beside each other The image looks like post it notes, which i feel looks very affective.
