After the meeting with Kim, the way finding systems really inspired me, I really liked the idea of take a simple idea and transforming that into a theme with would run through out the whole building. What particularly inspired me was the floor navigation, I really liked this system due to the interiors of the building feeling as if was on a giant map.
Here are a few examples of floor navigation
I have made a list with explore the positives and the negatives of this system, I will start by discussing the positives
- The floor navigation system will run throughout the building
- The system allows plenty of room for students work, or other themes.
- The system is easy to follow and is a inventive way of finding your way around a space
- The navigation route colours can be incorporate into any design of the building and can also be relevant to the school logo
- The system would look clean
I will now discuss the negatives
- The system may be hard to maintain as the paint on the floor may eventually ware off
- The system may also be expensive to maintain
- Maintanence on the floor would be difficult to achieve, as the corridors need to be accessed at all times.
